September is Red House reading month
Our Book Fair always takes place in September and, to encourage reading, the school offered a range of activities throughout the month. The first was an invitation for parents to tell stories or read books to children in the classroom. The participation was higher than expected and the students had unforgettable experiences!
A Book Donation Campaign was also carried out during the month at the suggestion of the Student Council. For elementary students, the corresponding amount will be converted into House points, therefore, the more donations, the higher the score. At the end of the campaign, all donation will become part of our Library collection.
There was also Buddy Reading, an activity in which older students read books to younger ones. And also (DEAR) Drop Everything and Read which made staff and students stop what they were doing to read a book for a few minutes after a classical song played over the speakers.
And, of course, it could not be different: the long-awaited Book Fair was very popular! Workshops of fable character masks, sock puppets, and book markers caught the attention of visitors, who were also able to participate in four Book Characters Games and watch the play Pete the Cat performed by Toddler and K3 teachers. The event also had two exciting attractions that enchanted students: a book illustration workshop with illustrator Silvana Randa and storytelling with Blandina Franca, author of “Quem Soltou o Pum?”.
